Power Outage

So who in Canada or the northeastern U.S. got affected by the power outage? Let's hear your stories.
For those who don't know I"m a sports reporter for a daily newspaper in Peterborough and i was travelling with our senior lacrosse team to St. Catharines for game 7 of the Ontario semifinals.
We stopped in Whitby to pick up some players about 4:30 p.m. and that's the first we heard of a power outage as power at the restaurant there was out.
We were watching a movie and didn't have a radio on so we were pretty ignorant of the situation. We pressed on to our next stop in Scarborough to pick up the goalie.
When we got there he informed us that power was out almost across the province and upper U.S. and that we might want to make some phone calls before travelling another 2 hours to find the game cancelled.
Most cell phones were knocked out but fortunately the bus driver's cell was working and we made numerous calls. We had the radio on by this point and were learning of what was going on. Traffic on the 401 (the major highway in and out of Toronto which we had to pass through to get to St. Kitts) was backed up tremendously as each off-ramp was backed up because all the street lights were knocked out.
Police were directing traffic at most major intersections.
We stayed in the parking lot of this mall for probably 90 minutes before the league commissioner got a hold of us to tell us the game was off as power wasn't expected back up in St. Catharines any time soon.
That was Thursday night and Friday night the game was again postponed and we're waiting for a make-up date now.
When I got back home, my wife had the candles all lit and my 4-year-old daughter was colouring by candlelight.
We went outside and looked up in the night sky and saw stars we haven't seen in years because of all the city lights which flood the night sky.
We all went to bed early that night as the little one didn't want to sleep alone in the dark with her night light not working.....=)
We had the windows open with the air conditioner off and could heard police and fire sirens all night but it turned out the next day there were no major incidents or problems in our city. It was actually a pretty relaxing night for us
We got power back about 1:20 a.m. when I woke up to hit the bathroom. We were out of power approximately 9 hours which is much less than many others and we've had no interruptions since although we've been warned rolling blackouts may be coming.
Officials have asked people to conserve energy and not run air conditioners unless absolutely necessary. We've had our's off for 2 days now and it's starting to get a little warm.
Anyone else have a more interesting time than I did?
